How to: share your video online

Jan 28th, 2009 | By admin | Category: How to...

I’m opening new category: How to… . It will include mini tutorials on how to go about things on a net.
So today’s task is:

Upload and share your video online

What is available?

Quick search in Google shows this article so I’ve chosen Vimeo as the most suitable considering I need to upload quick and for free. (I’d rather go for Flickr but only pro member can upload video). The only downside of Vimeo was that I should wait 40 mins before my video was “converted” and will be available, but so far, because uploading take little time, in all it not so bad. I’d also go for blip.tv but there no option to restrict access to video if you sign up for free. Vimeo has this option.

Slow internet

And if you want to share your video with somebody with slow internet connection, there always Windows Movie maker. Make your movie in format .wmv and send it with email for playing offline on Windows Media Player. I was amazed seeing how effective Windows Movie maker is for creating simple short movies, editing them and saving for the web. The movie making requires no extra tutorials, just go around through menus, add media to your project and move it to the timeline.

  1. Hi,

I wanted to let you know about a new online video storage website called Zovue.com.
They have free upload/download accounts, and they accept HD videos. If the initial 100Mb is not enough room for your video storage you can always upgrade your account to a paying membership which gives you more online video storage space.

  2. Thanks Fred, I’ll look into Zovue.com
